Georgia – Council for Administrators of Special Education (G-CASE)
Presents the
Theodore Smith
Continuing Education Scholarship for Teachers

Background Information

Theodore Smith has devoted a lifetime to education as both a teacher and an administrator.  He has given fifty years (1951-2001) of exemplary service to Georgia Public Education. The majority of these years were geared toward the betterment of services for special needs students.  Retirement, after fifty years did not mean the end of activity for Mr. Smith.  He returned to teaching special education immediately, serving as an instructor of Literacy Remediation Education in the Georgia Prison System.  He also returned to Twiggs County and taught a special education class at Danville Elementary during the 2002-2003 school year.   At the present, he continues to teach and inspire special needs students at Central State Prison in Macon, Georgia.

During his career, Mr. Smith served on many committees.  These include the Special Education Advisory Panel of the Georgia Department of Education; the Governor’s Council for Planning of Inclusion Education, and the Testing Unit Review Panel.  He served numerous times as a test administrator for the TCT.
