Lillie Moncus Award

The Lillie N. Moncus Special Education Administrator of the Year Award is presented annually by G-CASE to a special education administrator who best exemplifies the concern, enthusiasm and dedication of Lillie Moncus. Mrs. Moncus was a special education administrator in Fayette County for many years. She was one of Georgia’s true leaders in the field of special education.

Georgia has many special education leaders who exemplify Lillie N. Moncus in their dedication to providing services for exceptional students. Think about your colleagues and nominate one of these deserving people. A committee will review the nominations and determine the recipient. This is the most prestigious award given by G-CASE. The person selected will be G-CASE’s nominee for CASE’s award for special education administrator of the year.

Lillie N. Moncus Special Education Administrator of the Year Award is presented to a special education administrator who best exemplifies the concern, enthusiasm and dedication of Lillie Moncus. Mrs. Moncus was a special education administrator in Fayette County for many years. She was one of Georgia’s true leaders in the field of special education.

Nominee Qualifications
  • An active member of G-CASE for a minimum of three years as of the most recent Fall Conference. (Current officers/committee chairpersons of G-CASE are not eligible during their term of office.)
  • A significant contributor to the G-CASE Executive Board.
  • Noted for exemplary services to teachers and students and to the G-CASE Board of Directors.
  • Possess a record of 20 years of service in the profession of special educational leadership that is considered exemplary.
  • Outstanding contributions beyond those expected in an individual’s job.

Selection Criteria
Active G-CASE member in good standing20 points
Examples of contributions to G-CASE and the special educational leadership profession40 points
Examples of exemplary services to teachers, students and G-CASE20 points

Examples of statewide or national contributions or recognitions10 points

Additional Requirements

Nominations may be made by an individual or group (teacher, principal, board member, parent, organization) and the nomination form is endorsed by a current active member of G-CASE.

The nominee’s direct supervisor and superintendent (or designee) must be notified of the nomination.

Applications must be complete in order to be considered. The application consists of the nomination form, a summary (two-page maximum) of activities related to the selection criteria listed above, and resume’ (three page limit) of the nominee’s professional career. The resume’ must include as a minimum an employment history, lists of membership in professional and community organizations, and community involvement.
