NEW SPECIAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR

GEORGIA COUNCIL OF ADMINISTRATORS OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
OUTSTANDING NEW SPECIAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR AWARD

 Rules

Nominees must be a practicing special education administrator for 5 or less years and is an active member of G-CASE; displays an active interest and involvement in G-CASE.  This award will be presented to a person who probably does not have statewide recognition but would be recognized in their part of the state and may have service only in the field of special education.

Nominee Qualifications:

  1. A practicing administrator and a member of G-CASE
  1. 5 years or less administrative experience in the current position
  1. Have demonstrated a concern for students/families with disabilities
  1. Demonstrate active involvement in professional and community affairs
  1. Special contributions to the field of special education administration
  1. Recognized in their part of the state as a leader in special education administration or for outstanding leadership accomplishments in their local district

Selection Criteria:

Examples of  contributions to students/families with disabilities 30 points
Examples of active involvement in professional and community affairs 30 points
Examples of contributions to the field of special education and/or
G-CASE 
20 points
Examples of exemplary leadership in their local area of Georgia 20 points

Additional Requirements:

Nominations may be made by an individual or group (teacher, principal, board member, parent, organization) as long as the nomination originates within the school system and the nomination form is endorsed by a current active member of G-CASE.

Applications must be complete in order to be considered.  The application consists of the nomination form, a two-page (maximum) summary of activities related to the selection criteria listed above, and resume’ (three page limit) of the nominee’s professional career.  The resume’ must include as a minimum an employment history, lists of membership in professional and community organizations, and community involvement.

Selection Committee:

The selection committee is made up of G-CASE past-presidents who will recommend a recipient or recipients to the Board of Directors.
