DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

Rules

Recipient of this award will have a positive history/association with Georgia Public Education.  This history/association may be directly tied to the learning process such as practicing administrator, teacher, etc. or indirectly such as legislator, professional organization employee, member of the media, etc.

 Nominee Qualifications:

  1. Have a positive history/association with Georgia public education.  This history/association may be directly tied to the learning process such as practicing administrator, teacher, etc. OR indirectly such as a legislator, professional organization employee, member of the media, etc.
  1. Have contributed/participated in activities that improve Georgia’s public education system on a statewide basis.
  1. Have a reputation as a person that willingly goes the extra mile.
  1. Possess a record of 20 years of service in the profession of special educational leadership that is considered exemplary.
  1. Outstanding contributions beyond those expected in an individual’s job.

Selection Criteria:

Positive history/association with Georgia public education 25 points
Examples of contributions to improve Georgia’s public education system on a statewide basis. 30 points
Examples of going the extra mile 25 points

Examples of outstanding contributions beyond those expected  in an individual’s job 

20 points

Additional Requirements:

Nominations may be made by an individual or group (teacher, principal, board member, parent, organization) as long as the nomination originates within the school system and the nomination form is endorsed by a current active member of G-CASE.

Applications must be complete in order to be considered.  The application consists of the nomination form, a two-page (maximum) summary of activities related to the selection criteria listed above, and resume’ (three page limit) of the nominee’s professional career.  The resume’ must include as a minimum an employment history, lists of membership in professional and community organizations, and community involvement.

 Deadline:  October 24, 2007

 Selection Committee:

The selection committee is made up of G-CASE past-presidents who will recommend a recipient or recipients to the Board of Directors.
