G-CASE serves the members of CASE who live and work in Georgia! Our major goal is to improve services to children with special needs. We strive to provide leadership and support to members by providing input into the policies and practices in Georgia which impact the quality of education and by providing support to the professionals who serve the students of Georgia.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

 G-CASE is seeking candidates for the following officer positions. Please consider nominating a qualified individual that desires to serve. Qualifications are listed below and in our Constitution. Complete the attached form for your nominees.

Conditions of Office

(a) Council officers must be members in good standing of GAEL, G-CASE, CASE, and CEC at the time of nomination and election and remain so throughout the term of office.

THE VICE-PRESIDENT- The Vice-President shall be a position of learning the total organization in order to move into the President position in two years. This person will work with the strategic planning committee with the President-Elect and serve as a committee member on the Nominations and Elections Committee and the Awards Committee with the Immediate Past President. The Vice-President will accede to the office of President-Elect from the position of Vice-President.

THE TREASURER- The Treasurer shall serve as chairperson of the Finance Committee. He/She, with the assistance of the Finance Committee, shall be responsible for the development and oversight of the G-CASE budget and shall monitor and assure an accurate record of receipts and expenditures is maintained. He/she shall present a report at each meeting. The G-CASE financial records shall be audited annually by the Auditing Agency specially chosen for this purpose. The Treasurer shall draw up a proposed budget for the forthcoming year and submit it at an annual business meeting.

 The slate of nominees with their vita information will be published in the G-CASE Newsletter and/or on the web site, and emailed to all active members at least 30 calendar days prior to the election.  The election shall take place by written or electronic ballot to all active members at least 30 calendar days prior to a General Business meeting. The Nominations and Elections Committee will carry out the election, will certify all voting members and will tabulate the results with results reported to the membership in a timely manner.  

 All elected officers shall begin their duties following the induction of officers at the G-CASE business meeting held at Summer GAEL.  Download Nomination Form


ANNOUNCING THE 2009-10 SPECIAL EDUCATION
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY (SELDA)

(Formerly known as the New Directors’ Academy)

What: The name of the G-CASE/GADOE Academy for new directors of special education has been changed from the New Directors’ Academy to the Special Education Leadership Development Academy (SELDA) to reflect the broader intended audience of new coordinators and other new leaders of special education programs as well as new directors of special education. SELDA will provide four training sessions throughout the year for new special education leaders.

When: The 4 SELDA Meetings:
1.   September 10 and 11 (Thursday and Friday) The new Macon Marriott City Center at the Macon Centreplex
2.   November 11 (Wednesday) Preconference before the G-CASE Fall Conference at the Savannah Riverfront Marriott
3.   January 31 (Sunday) Preconference before the GAEL Winter Conference (
Classic Center in Athens)
4.   March 22 (Monday) Preconference before the G-CASE/GADOE Spring Special Education Leadership Meeting at the Classic Center in Athens

Cost: $250.00 for all four meetings (for new directors, coordinators, and other leaders) This includes membership in GAEL, CEC, CASE, and G-CASE for one year-a $334 value for all 4 memberships. Registration is free for experienced special education directors who are willing to mentor a new special education leader throughout the year and attend the meetings of the Academy.
